"Surprise! We are pregnant!" That's what I was told when my clients Amber and AJ inquired about having a maternity session with me. It was definitely a surprise but for sure a great one. They were recently married after years of dating, and they weren't trying for a baby right away, but hey when it happens, it happens. They told me they were having a boy and wanted to capture their entire motherhood journey, opting for the Mom to Miracle Collection. For her maternity session at our Sanford, FL studio, Amber wanted to keep it simple with a basic black and white studio session. She chose dresses from my client wardrobe closet, so she didn't have to purchase anything. AJ came ready with his attire with 1 dressy look with a velvet blazer, and another casual look with jeans and a t-shirt. I offer 2 outfit changes during my maternity sessions so that my clients came have some flexibility in their photo gallery.
Yal, we had a time! Let me tell you, honey, they were vibing. I turned on Beyonce radio, which played more than just Queen Bey, and we all danced, laughed, and rocked out to some good music. And 1 thing I learned is that AJ does not play about his wife! He knew exactly how to get her to smile, laugh, or gaze at him. He made her feel confident hyping her up and they joked with each other the entire time, which was very entertaining for me. They really love each other and enjoy being around each other. They were not afraid to get close and embrace and that's really what makes for stunning couple maternity photos.
In the end we made some pure magic. I always have so much fun capturing couples/families during a maternity portrait session. There is so much joy that fills the room. Amber's maternity portrait session was no exception and I cannot wait to see them again for their newborn session in a few weeks.
